BREAKING:
A female Trump supporter has been shot inside the US Capital Building.
A stand off is underway in Washington DC inside the Capital Building after thousands of Trump supporters have stormed security and breached the building.
The events have been taking place for a few hours already.
Vice President Pence has been escorted out of the building through a secret tunnel underground for his safety.
President Trump has tweeted to his supporters “I am asking for everyone at the U.S. Capitol to remain peaceful. No violence! Remember, WE are the Party of Law & Order – respect the Law and our great men and women in Blue. Thank you!”
Republican leaders have reached out to President Trump to encourage him to go on air to address the nation.
UPDATE: Trump has since issued a video message to the nation on his twitter account. Twitter has disabled sharing of the video.
